On March 28th 2024, Ivana Terzić, a student at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology at the University of Zagreb, successfully defended her master’s thesis titled “Persistent Organic Pollutants in Freshwaters: Spatial Distribution and Risk Analysis,” supervised by Dr. Snježana Herceg Romanić and Prof. Šime Ukić. The experimental part of the research was conducted at the Institute of Environmental Health. The obtained results were utilized for the analysis of the toxicity, persistence, and bioaccumulative properties of polychlorinated biphenyls, organochlorine pesticides, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in Croatian sediments using the VEGA QSAR model.
