Guest appearance at the Career Week of the University of Osijek

In the period from May 6 to 10, 2024, the University of Osijek organized Career Week with the aim of developing students’ careers and connecting them with the business sector. The visit of the Institute for Medical Research and Occupational Health in Zagreb was organized on May 6, 2024 at the Department of Chemistry. Dr. sc. Antonija Sulimanec and Marija Kujundžić, mag. Eng. sec. held lectures under the titles “Pesticides in food: about methods and results of total diet study” and “Listen to this – about noise and effects on health!”. On that occasion, the activities of the work packages Food and Health (RP2) and Noise (RP6) of the HumEnHealth project were presented.

Workshop in the kindergarten “Igra” in Koprivnica

On May 23, 2024, the workshop “Small H2O experiments” was held for the participants of the oldest kindergarten group “Bubamara” of the kindergarten “Igra” in Koprivnica. The workshop was prepared and led by Dr. sc. Antonija Sulimanec from the Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Institute for Medical Research and Occupational Health.
“Bubamarci” were eagerly awaiting the start of the workshop. They independently performed simple water experiments such as walking water, a rainbow in a test tube and a floating egg, observed changes and concluded about the outcome of the experiment like real scientists. They learned various interesting facts about the properties of water and its importance for health, as well as ways to save it. In addition to the experiments, the children also enjoyed making colorful slimes, which they took home as a prize.
Our thanks especially go to kindergarten teachers Maja Bogada and Davorka Draganić for their warm welcome and help in conducting the workshop. Thanks to Kindergarden for the invitation and cooperation. We wish the little “Bubamarci” happy holidays and a happy start to school. May they continue to acquire new knowledge in the natural sciences with the same enthusiasm they showed at this workshop. Nature and health: Planning a hiking trip and movement in the mountains

Lecture at the invitation of Elementary School “Luka” Sesvete for teachers of physical and health education on June 5, 2024 was held by Dr. sc. Ante Miličević.

Noise pollution

Marija Kujundžić participated in the course ‘Introduction to Internet Journalism’ of the Faculty of Political Sciences in Zagreb through an interview as part of the student paper ‘Introduction to Internet Journalism’. The topic of the paper was noise pollution.
