From June 30 to July 4, 2025, the international conference \u201cCMAS 2025 \u2013 Asia-Pacific and Regional IUAPPA Conference: Convergence between \u2018Process-driven\u2019 and \u2018Data-driven\u2019 Approaches\u201d was held at the Konkuk University Campus in Seoul, Republic of Korea, organized by the National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER), Republic of Korea, and co-organized by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 The Korean Society for Atmospheric Environment (KOSAE), Republic of Korea<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 The Community Modeling and Analysis System (CMAS) Center, USA<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 The International Union of Air Pollution Prevention and Environmental Protection Associations (IUAPPA)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Northeastern University, USA<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 The Specialized Graduate Program for PM Particles, Republic of Korea In addition to conference sessions, members of the CMAS Center hosted a 2-day lecture and hands-on training in SMOKE and CMAQ, two key tools used by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and a global user community for air quality management. The training was attended by 50 students and faculty members from several universities and state\/local organizations from 12 countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This conference served as a key platform for exchanging the latest scientific findings and technological innovations in air quality research and policy development, under the theme \u201cConvergence between Process-driven and Data-driven Approaches.\u201d It brought together around 150 conference attendees from 17 countries including air quality researchers, model developers, and policy makers to share experiences and foster collaboration, with particular emphasis on the development and application of air quality models to address environmental challenges in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. During the conference, numerous oral presentations and poster sessions were held. Two project associates from the Division of Environmental Hygiene participated in the event:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
