From 21st to 25th October 2025, the International Conference and the 14th Croatian Scientific and Professional Meeting AIR PROTECTION 2025 took place in Zadar, Croatia. The main oganizer of the event was the Croatian Air Pollution Prevention Association (CAPPA), in cooperation with the Institute for Medical Research and Occupational Health, the Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service, the European Federation of Clean Air and Environmental Protection Associations (EFCA), and the International Union of Air Pollution Prevention and Environmental Protection Associations (IUAPPA). The Conference covered a broad range of topics related to air quality and environmental protection, including air quality management, air pollution sources and emissions, ambient air pollution monitoring, machine learning and air quality modelling, development and testing of measurement methods, indoor air quality, impacts of air pollution on health, climate and environment. Furthermore, two special sessions were held – the EFCA session “Methane Time” and the IUAPPA session, which addressed global issues of air protection.
The conference was attended by more than 120 participants, who presented 44 oral and 22 poster presentations. The presentation abstracts were published in the Book of Abstracts:

Collaborators from the EnvironPollutHealth project at the Division of Environmental Hygiene actively participated with seven oral and six poster presentations, contributing to the exchange of knowledge and experience in the field of air quality protection and protection of the environment and human health. Nikolina Račić has won the first prize for the best poster at the Air Protection conference for the work carried out within the EnvironPollutHealth project: “Using Explainable Machine Learning to Understand What Affects PAHs and Heavy Metals in PM10 Particles” (authors: Nikolina Račić, Mario Lovrić, Gordana Pehnec, Ivana Jakovljević, Zdravka Sever Štrukil, Silva Žužul, Jasmina Rinkovec).
As part of the poster session, a special presentation of the EnvironPollutHealth project was also held, which attracted significant interest from both the scientific and professional communities.
