As part of the Open Day event of the Institute for Medical Research and Occupational Health, which was held on November 22, 2024, close to 400 visitors, mostly students, walked through the Institute, including the Division of Environmental Hygiene.
During a dozen tours of the Division’s laboratories, we presented our current scientific research to large number of visitor groups and demonstrated the analytical methods we use in the EnvironPollutHealth project for the four research topics: Analysis of organic pollutants from the environment, Suspended particles in the air we breathe, Organic pollutants in the air and Analysis of metals in the air. Interested visitors also had the opportunity to visit the measuring station for collecting air quality data at the Institute’s location. The public was informed about important facts based on the results of our research with the topics: Chemicals that do not disappear: the story of “eternal pollutants” and Microworld in the air: an invisible challenge in every breath, as well as about the most important achievements of the Croatian Air Protection Association (HUZZ), an association operating at the Institute’s address, at the poster exhibition “Interesting science facts”.
We thank all the visitors for showing interest in our science and visiting us in such large numbers. Stay tuned! Lab tour leaders: D. Klinčić, M. Dvoršćak, G. Mendaš Starčević, S. Stipičević, R.
