The international scientific conference “ConRad 2025 – Global Conference on Radiation Topics – Preparedness, Response, Protection and Research” organized by the Bundeswehr Institute of Radiobiology was held in Munich from May 05th to 08th 2025. The conference covered the topics in the field of radiological safety, radiation protection, biodosimetry and radiobiology. Associates from the Division of Radiation Protection actively participated during the conference by presenting their research results from the field of ionising and nonionizing radiation in the form of poster presentations.<\/h1>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The 14th Symposium of Croatian Radiation Protection Association with international participation\n<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The 14th Symposium of Croatian Radiation Protection Association with international participation was held in Vodice from 1-4 April 2025, co-organized by the Institute for Medical Research and Occupational Health. The Symposium included ten scientific and professional sections (Challenges in radioactive waste management, Radioecology, Radon, Instrumentation and measurement techniques (environment), Exposure of the population to radiation, General topics in radiation science, Biological effects of radiation, Radiation dosimetry, Instrumentation and measurement techniques (medicine), Radiation protection in medicine), and the main topic was dedicated to the challenges in radioactive waste management.
Associates from the Division of Radiation Protection actively participated during the conference by presenting their research results in the form of oral and\/or poster presentations. I. Franulovi\u0107 and P. Tagliaretti were members of the symposium Organizing Committee, and T. Bituh and B. Petrinec were members of the Scientific Committee.

7th MELODI Workshop<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The 7th topical MELODI Workshop, titled \u201eRadiation Effects in the Central Nervous System\u201c, was held in Rome, Italy, from 17th to 19th of February 2025. Impacts of ionizing radiation on cells and tissues of the nervous system were discussed, as well as cognitive changes following exposure. Dr. Krunoslav Ili\u0107 participated in the workshop with a lecture titled \u201eLow doses of ionizing radiation stimulate proliferation of neuroblastoma cells\u201c, and presented the results obtained as a part of \u201cEcological, biological and dosimetric aspects of ionizing radiation \u2013 exposure and protection (EBDIZ)\u201d project.<\/h1>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Open day of the Institute

On Friday, November 22, 2024, an all-day event Open Door Day of the Institute for Medical Research and Occupational Medicine was held with the aim of popularizing current scientific research and professional activities. On that occasion, visitors, mostly schoolchildren, teachers and students visited the Institute for Radiation Protection, where they had the opportunity to see an accredited laboratory for measuring radon and learn something about radiochemistry. As part of the event, several popular-scientific lectures were also held: The good, the bad, the different faces of ionizing radiation, What is nuclear medicine and what is it for? Radon: a secret visitor in your home and Asbestos: yesterday, today, tomorrow. Students could test their\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
